February 2024: Here Is Where We Are At

Hello everyone!

In January we published a series of small improvements, while you wait for the next new feature, Project Templates, which will be available in a few weeks.

The Project Templates feature will be within the same Projects option, and you will be able to create them in the same way that you currently create a project. It will be very simple. The difference is that the actions in a project template will be “virtual” and will not appear in any general list until you generate a real project from that template. Since you can generate as many projects as you want from a template, this option will be useful for those projects that you have to carry out more than once.

We are also working on new PDF reports that will allow you to print complete projects and your collaborators’ agendas.

After this, the next improvement will be related to the integration of FacileThings with other applications. We are developing an integration with Zapier, which in turn will allow you to integrate FT with hundreds of applications and automate processes that will make your life easier.

We will also soon update the mobile app, which will incorporate the Collaborators option and will allow you to have your agendas available anywhere.

That’s all for now!

👏 Great stuff! I'm especially excited for the Zapier integration.

Looking forward to the update of the mobile app, because I've to use it for most of my workday. By the way, any chance to see an offline mode for the mobile app in the future?

I might be the one who expects the Project Templates the most, so I am delighted by these advances. Thank you. 👍

I have LOTS of repetitive projects that could use a template. I will be REALLY excited to see how this looks!

Wonderful news about the templates! I've been bugging you for those for years. Now I'll have to come up with something else to bug you about.

Good to hear about continued effort on the mobile app. It is still, in my opinion, the weakest link in the otherwise very strong FacileThing workflow. It remains clunky, feels like it was made in the previous decade, and lacks many "quality of life" pieces of functionality I have come to greatly appreciate in most of my iOS applications.

The journey of FacileThings has been a great deal of fun to watch and be a part of. 2024 is looking very promising for what remains the very best GTD-focused productivity application around.

I agree with @Cyus, about the mobile app. I implemented some Shortcuts to make my workflow smoother on iOS but the experience with the app itself it's not great. This is the very reason that made me switch to other apps before.

At the moment I work at my customer's site, I've a lot of restrictions and I'm stuck on my phone for most of my workdays... and cellular reception is really poor.

I spend a lot of time looking at spinning wheels, while using the mobile app 😅, and sometime I get a server error... but never lost a thing: the app is really reliable on the this topic and that's great (and I'm aware that my logistics are at least 80% of the problem).

Sometime I have to use the website on my phone (to do something not available on the app): setting the zoom at 50% it's... very small but useable and I find the experience better than the mobile app. Sometime I think the webapp with a phone optimized interface could serve us better than the dedicated app.

I'm looking forward to the new version of the mobile app to see what improvements it'll bring.

Please don't take offense at my criticism, I really love FacileThings. Sometime I switch to something else, but I keep coming back... especially whenever I need to be rooted in the methodology. I think it's the only app that approximates the Ultimate GTD app as conceived by David Allen.

Hi Paolo,

I very much appreciate the constructive criticism. It helps us improve things. Unfortunately, we can't go too fast with the improvements to the mobile app due to resource limitations, but we're working on a side project to build a PWA app that would allow us to work at the same pace as with the web. It will take time too. 🤷

I completely understand. The future PWA app could be a real game changer, but I won't hold my breath until its release! 🤣

I appreciate FT continuous evolution and that you keep giving us these regular updates.

Hi, you know what would be great? The possibility to "share" something into the FacileThings app! Google Keep can do it. If you use native android share function, you can select the app and it will become a note. This could work in the same way. There's often a need to keep something like webpage link and it would be much easier to just share it from chrome directly into FacileThings app rather than copying it, opening the app, pasting and saving.

@Bartłomiej you could send the link to FT via email. On iPhone I use Shortcuts to make the process seamless.

On Android I think you could something with IFTTT using something like Google Tasks as a middle man: you could create an automation that whenever a task is added sends it to FT via email.

Once the automation is in place, you can simply share your link with Google Tasks to send them in FT.

Hi Bartłomiej,

Absolutely! This cannot be done at the moment because the app is not native and doesn't have access to certain mobile resources. We are considering adding a small native app for Android/iPhone that provides this functionality.

For now, as Paolo says, you can use the "send by email" option of any app to send things to your FacileThings inbox.

Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Braintoss could be another good temporary solution for this. In the FacileThings support material you can find a tutorial that explains how to setup the integration between Braintoss and FT.

Capture by mail in FT works really well and is almost instantaneous.
