May 2024: Here Is Where We Are At

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the lack of newsletters in recent months. When we don’t publish the monthly newsletter it is either because we continue working on what we have already explained in the previous month’s newsletter, or because we are working on issues that don’t involve news from the point of view of the application user (internal or technical improvements, usually).

Having released a number of new features for all users, we are now working on improvements to help new users onboard with stronger knowledge of how to manage their lives effectively, so they can reap organizational benefits more quickly. As you already know, the GTD learning curve is not very smooth in general.

We’re also working on a new feature to help you better manage context and classification tags, as well as the future integration of FacileThings with Zapier.

Regarding the next improvement of the mobile app, I would like to know your opinion: which option would you be interested in having first, the routine management (A) or the perspective section (B)? Or is there any other improvement that seems more necessary to you? I read you. We will prioritize the option that has the most votes in the comments below ;)

That’s all for now!

Dear Facilethings Team

Thank you! The sketch function in the Mobile/ Tablet application can be improved. It can be used for brainstorming and planning purposes, especially on tablets. The facile things already have the function of the sketch in capture but it requires improvement to become useful.

Many of the GTD and Facilethings users are team leaders, and require some solution that helps them work as a team in Facilethings. Facilethings for the team could be the next development.

Thank you
Gagan

Other useful improvements in the mobile app could be:
- duplicate task
- checklist import in a task
- project template

These (along with Routines) are the features that force me to quit the app and access the webapp when I'm on my phone.

Option A for mobile hands down. For iOS having the "Share Sheet" functionality to quickly get tasks into Facilethings from any other app.

@Brian C. On iOS you can easily do the share sheet thing using Shortcuts and FT's capture by mail function, it works like a charm!

I've been waiting quite a while for routine management to come to the mobile app.

Hi Paolo,

It would be nice if I could clarify my inbox per area of focus. When I am at work I would like to be able to postpone the clarification of inbox items which are not work related. These distract me from my work at that moment. It would be nice if you could postpone the clarification of non work related inbox items only by assigning them to a specific area of focus..

Well, the routines option is winning by an overwhelming majority in both the English and Spanish blogs. So be it!

Gagan, we will take an in-depth look at David Allen's recent book on implementing GTD in work teams to improve FacileThings' collaboration options. I also take note of your complaint about the option to capture drawings, let's see what can be done.

Paolo, thanks for mentioning the option of using Shortcuts on iOS to share things. I also take note of your suggestions about the mobile app.

Brian, it would be great to have the "share" native iOS feature. It's complicated since the app is not native, but we are investigating possibilities. Thanks!

Thank you all very much for your collaboration!

Of the next options for the mobile app, I would vote for a Perspectives view on the mobile app, over the routines.

Got a timeline for the Zapier integration? Thank you for what you do!

Hi V,

We don't work with timelines, but we are starting to design the integration. It shouldn't take too long.

Hi! Actually -- I was looking to code an Browser extension . Zapier might do it for me, but I recall there was an end-user accessible API at one point. Does it still exist?

Hi Woodrow,

Yes, the API is still private but I could give you early access. Open a Support ticket if you're interested ;)

Thanks for your continued work on making FacileThings my go-to app for managing my workflow. Any preview of what's in the new feature for context and classification tags?

Hi Joseph,

Think of the tags section as something similar to the projects section. It will have a similar interface, where you can select a tag within the list of all your tags, and see all the actions that are related to it, in any list.

It will be an organizational aid and will allow special features to be added to the tags in the near future (I will reveal this later) ;)

Would go for A - Which could lead to sort of a Habit Tracker. That would be great.
