April 2025: Here Is Where We Are At

Hello everyone!

In recent weeks, we’ve released some improvements and created a new feature, Value Tags, which allows you to save and track custom numeric values in your tasks.

In May, we will be updating the operating system, software packages, and language versions on the server to improve web application performance and prevent potential vulnerabilities.

After this, we’ll dedicate the majority of our development time to the new FacileThings app. This new app will eventually replace the current web and mobile apps, and will have features that we hope will greatly improve the user experience:

  • Speed. The app will save a copy of your data on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone), and since it doesn’t require access to the cloud, interaction with it will be very fast.
  • Responsiveness. Any changes to the data will be displayed automatically. You won’t need to refresh the page if the data is modified from another device or if a notification comes in.
  • Offline operation. You will be able to work without internet access for as long as you need.
  • Data synchronization. Data will be synchronized across all the devices you use when there is internet access.
  • Mobile design. Although it can be used on any type of screen, we will prioritize designing for small screens so that all functionality is easily accessible from a smartphone.
  • Accessibility. We will strive to make the app easy to use for anyone, regardless of their abilities (multiple navigation points, legible fonts and sizes, keyboard shortcuts, gesture control, color contrasts with light/dark mode, etc.).

We’re still in the alpha phase, but we’ll be moving faster from now on. I’ll be posting updates monthly. Here’s a short video to show you how it’s going:

That’s all for now!

These upgrades are exciting for me as I spent equal time between mobile and workstation. They will provide me the freedom to GTD in every place I need to be! Thanks to the team for making this possible.

Hi Francisco, great news as usual... wait... more then usual!

This new app it's really great news for my needs, especially the emphasis on mobile and local first design. Looking forward to try it!

I'm also happy to know that you are also still improving performance and security on the current app. Great work!👏👏

Very exciting news Francisco, offline functionality is the only missing feature which has tempted me to switch applications for my GTD system, looks like I won't have to! Really looking forward to this :)

Sounds very promising.
Will there be an option to upload files faster than is currently the case? At the moment it feels very cumbersome compared to other tools. I'm thinking of something like a drag-and-drop area.

Regards

Hi Philip,

Most likely. We'll be updating many processes to make them smoother, although I don't think all the changes will be made right away. If we focus on improving everything in the first version, it could take a long time. But yes, that improvement will probably be available from the start.

Such great news, thanks for the Update, Francisco :) I'm looking forward to the speed improvements and mobile priorization as I never had fun using it on iOS (only Braintoss).
Rather something for the back of the backlog but maybe still worth exploring: OmniFocus has a great "multi select"-functionality on mobile, would love to see something similar as an option instead of having to "check of" items/actions/events one-by-one.

Highly appreciate the constant improvements!

Hi Julian,

Thanks for the encouragement. We'll see how the check off multiple actions at once, once the new app is available. It's in our backlog. ;)
