The main goal of the GTD methodology is to help you keep your attention on what is important for you at all times and levels. To do so, it provides tools that help you focus on what you need when you need it.
Getting Things Done - GTD
When I have to explain to someone in a few minutes what Getting Things Done (the GTD methodology) is, what it is about or what it consists of, I have a hard time focusing on a more or less complete answer in a short space of time. In the end, I almost always end up explaining the basics of the methodology so that the listener does not feel overwhelmed, and I am left with the feeling that I have not conveyed a real or complete idea of the concept.

GTD became very popular in the years following the publication of the book Getting Things Done by David Allen in 2001 and, although it no longer has the hype and expansion it had in its early years, it is a methodology that has firmly established itself as one of the best personal management systems.
