The calendar is a widespread organizational tool because everyone understands perfectly well what a calendar is. Calendars have always been with us. They were used by our parents and grandparents. When I was a kid, we had a calendar hanging on the kitchen wall where my parents wrote things to do on some of the days, and circled important events in red. I remember my grandfather had a similar calendar in his office, and he would religiously cross off each day that ended with a big “X”.

Fear is, without a doubt, our greatest enemy when it comes to taking transcendental actions. It often prevents us from making the big changes in our lives: changing jobs or careers, moving to another city, or starting or ending a relationship.

People often assume that “busywork” or the act of being busy means they are being productive, but this isn’t necessarily true. Just because you are working on something doesn’t mean it’s the best thing to be working on at that moment.

We all have tasks in our Next Actions list that we are reluctant to do and tend to procrastinate or leave for another day.

If you are constantly fighting to stay awake and alert at work or you dread going to the office the moment you open your eyes in the morning, then you may be experiencing burnout. It’s a phenomenon that can often occur when you no longer have the mental or physical strength to do your current work, or you are so overwhelmed that you feel like you are drowning the second you sit down at your desk.
